Principal Investigator & Assistant Professor of Geography, University of Lethbridge My research investigates how snow and glacier processes shape water availability in high-elevation catchments and influence downstream water security. I combine field observations with hydrological and climate modelling to understand how a warming climate is transforming mountain headwaters. I am deeply involved in outdoor education and science outreach, and I value mentorship, curiosity, and building supportive field teams. I’m happiest trail running, climbing rock faces, or skiing down snow slopes. |
Bridget Lowe - Undergraduate Summer Assistant
Bridget is our glacier specialist this summer and is supported by an undergraduate Chinook Research Award. She is collecting high-resolution albedo measurements across Peyto Glacier to investigate how glacier surface reflectivity varies through space. She is also helping with streamflow measurements at Castle Mountain.

Dominique Dunn - Undergraduate Summer Assistant
Dominique is the Mountain Ice and Water Lab’s field technician this summer. Drawing on his physics background, he helps troubleshoot sensor logging and power systems and serves as our resident sensor-programming expert. He is leading the installation of soil-moisture and temperature sensors across an elevation gradient at Castle Mountain Resort.

Amanda Hanke - Undergraduate Summer Assistant
Amanda is completing an independent study with the Mountain Ice and Water Lab this summer. She has taken the lead on installing the Haig Lake weather station, from testing and assembling the sensors in the lab to deploying the full station in the field.
